    The Institute of Road Transport was established in 1976 under the Control of Government of Tamil Nadu and has been registered as a society under the Indian Societies Registration Act 1860. 

  • IRT Engineering College

    The Institute Of Road and Transport Technology (IRTT) was established in the year 1984. It is run by Department of State Transport, Government of TamilNadu. It provides a congenial atmosphere for Technical Education. The Institute has excellent infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, library and highly qualified faculty members. 

  • Govt. Erode Medical College

    Govt. Erode Medical College is estabilished to train medical students through a primary health care approach with special emphasis on health promotion, disease prevention, early detection, diagnosis and management of diseases including rehabilitation and social integration of transport workers, their families and rural population.

Research at IRT

Research is being done to improve the automobile components to ensure rode safety. The research work has been grouped into three specialized area viz.

1.    Traffic and Transportation,
2.    Road Safety and
3.    Bus System Management.

 

In order to guide and evaluate the research projects, research sub-committees each consisting of four specialists/experts in the respective area of study drawn from various agencies like Government of India, IIT (Chennai), Anna University, Highways, STUs, CIRT have been constituted.
